DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Broadcast Systems Operator is a single class position which reports to the IT Operations Manager and assists with the City's broadcasting needs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Applications will be accepted until Sunday , October 19, 2025 , at 11:59PM . Candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to a virtual HireVue interview. Candidates who pass the virtual HireVue interview will be invited to the in-person oral interviews tentatively scheduled for November 10, 2025. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

Knowledge & Education
  • A typical way of obtaining the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position is graduation from a two-year college with full accreditation status granted by an institutional or specialized accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation with a degree in telecommunications, television production, broadcasting, or a closely related field and one year of experience assisting in media broadcasting and/or video production; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of technical requirements of operating a cable access station.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of program development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of current federal and state laws and local codes relating to cable access television.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Production Suite with an emphasis in premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.

Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to operate digital broadcasting equipment, use computer hardware to input, edit, and format data and information.
  • Ability to use editing software to assemble video, graphic, and audio into a visual presentation.
  • Ability to stay current with changing media and technology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Experience and Licenses
  • A valid California Class "C" Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy.

The Organization

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
