Overview

Responsible for preparing, conducting, reviewing and evaluating EMS educational programs within the System. Assists with initial educational programs and continuing education for System agencies. Provides recommendations to the EMS Education Director and the EMS Quality Assurance Coordinator for continuing education based on skills competency findings. Demonstrates and utilizes professional presentation skills through proper speech, timely implementation and appropriate media for the intended audience. Complies with all standards set forth by state, federal and local law and other regulatory agencies. Is held accountable for compliance with all McLean County Area EMS System and Carle BroMenn policies, protocols, and procedures. Displays the philosophy and values of the organization through daily behavior.


Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications

  1. Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Or
  2. Licensed Paramedic - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Or
  3. Licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate (EMT-I) - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA) And
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider - American Heart Association (AHA) And
  • ITLS Advanced Provider - International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Or
    Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) - National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) And
  • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) Course - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Three years of experience in emergency services, including dysrhythmia recognition, emergency drug therapy, CPR, pediatric care, and trauma care. Knowledge of Basic and Advanced Life Support equipment operations.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Develops class syllabi and submits to the EMS Education Director in order to meet all required timelines.
  • Assists the EMS Education Director with reviewing and evaluating educational programs within the System.
  • Develops and implements program changes as requested.
  • Prepares and conducts lectures based upon the objectives of the program.
  • Assists with continuing education for System agencies and other educational programs conducted within the System.
  • Based on education program review findings, communicates continuing education needs to the EMS Education Director and EMS Quality Assurance Coordinator.
  • Able to establish and follow priorities. Workflow is handled efficiently and effectively. Plans ahead and consistently completes work on schedule.
  • Demonstrates appropriate written and verbal communication skills. Consistently demonstrates effective communication skills by presenting accurate, relevant, and timely information in a clear and concise manner. Identifies ways to improve quality, quantity, timeliness and channels of communication to improve operations.
  • Anticipates/identifies problems, makes appropriate decisions, locates and examines necessary resources for resolution.
  • Develops and administers written and practical examinations as requested.
  • Continues to monitor the registry educator roster and provides updates to the EMS Education Director.
  • Maintain the education schedule database. Rep01i any coverage issues to the EMS Education Director.
  • Assembles training program applications packets and continuing education packets for registry educators.
  • Develop clinical rotations for students and provides educational counseling for students.
  • Maintains student records pertaining to written and clinical skill levels and communicates with the EMS Education Director regarding student progress.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $22.61per hour - $37.76per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
