Campus Mobility Planner

Roche Holdings Inc.
$129,200 - $240,000 USD Annual
United States, California, South San Francisco
Oct 07, 2025
The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Campus Mobility Planner to guide the long-range transportation planning efforts for Genentech's corporate headquarters in South San Francisco, a 200-acre site with a daily population ranging from 7,000-12,000. This role will be responsible for ensuring the effective integration of all transportation modes, including commuter buses (on-campus routing and stops only, not regional route planning), campus shuttles, pedestrian pathways, bicycles, scooters, private cars, and a variety of service and fleet vehicles (e.g. food, lab deliveries, Security vehicles, etc.) across the campus as Genentech engages in a comprehensive re-imagining and redevelopment of the site. This role will play a critical part in refining and implementing our existing high-level campus mobility plan to align with new information, ongoing major site development projects, and long-term strategic goals. In addition, the Mobility Planner will be expected to help plan for and implement temporary/phased changes to the campus transportation network to adapt to a prolonged and dynamic construction period.

The role will report to the Senior Director of Site Planning and Entitlements, who is responsible for long-range planning and design direction for the South San Francisco campus. However, the role will also collaborate very closely with Genentech's Transportation team (gRide) to ensure that strategic plans are aligned with operational priorities and best practices. Other key collaborators will include the Site Development team, who are responsible for on-campus parking and transportation logistics related to construction.

The successful applicant will bring expertise, strategic insights, and innovative solutions to create a multimodal, accessible, and sustainable mobility network for the campus.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the refinement and evolution of the existing high-level campus mobility plan to align with updated development project information and clarified objectives.

  • Develop and partner on implementing detailed strategies for a comprehensive multimodal transportation network, incorporating commuter buses, campus shuttles, bike infrastructure, pedestrian pathways, scooters, service/fleet vehicles, and other transportation modes.

  • Collaborate closely with campus planners, architects, transportation engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure transportation goals align with broader campus redevelopment initiatives.

  • Conduct data analysis and gather key insights to identify demand patterns, capacity needs, and areas for improvement across all modes of campus transportation.

  • Assist the gRide and Site Development as teams in solving campus transportation logistical challenges during site construction phases.

  • Provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements, operational efficiencies, and multimodal integration.

  • Develop policies, standards, and guidelines for mobility planning to support campus functionality, accessibility, and sustainability.

  • Utilize best practices in transportation demand management (TDM) to enhance commuter and on-campus mobility solutions.

  • Engage with local municipal agencies, transit providers, and regulatory bodies as needed to ensure compliance with local requirements.

  • Monitor advancements in mobility technologies and recommend opportunities for innovation in campus transportation systems.

  • Communicate strategies and outcomes to campus leadership and key stakeholders through reports, presentations, and visualizations.

Who you are

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in multi-modal mobility planning for large corporate or institutional campuses and/or in transportation consulting for comparable clients.

  • Familiarity with sustainable mobility practices, emerging technologies and micromobility trends, such as e-scooters, e-bikes, and autonomous shuttles.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable plans.

  • Effective communication and presentation abilities to articulate plans and decisions to diverse audiences.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, managing interdisciplinary projects, and balancing the interests of diverse stakeholders.
