The Wellbeing and Exercise Laboratory, led by Dr. Jacob Meyer, PhD, is recruiting a Research Specialist to assist in the day-to-day functioning and coordination of an NIH-funded clinical trial termed the CBT+ trial. This trial will run for 3 years and investigate the effect of priming regular one-on-one therapy sessions with exposure to exercise or a calm environment for adults with depression. The successful candidate will be involved in conducting study sessions, analyzing data, reporting results to various organizations, and other requirements for helping conduct this randomized, controlled trial. This position is ideal for a candidate looking for a multi-year research position and/or a candidate looking for significant research experience before applying to graduate programs. This is a full-time position, and the ideal candidate will be interested in working on the project for the duration of the 3-year grant.

Job Responsibilities:

* Managing project data collection, including research participant recruitment, screening, eligibility determination, disseminating research surveys, and communication with participants.

* Coordinating all study visits, including maintaining schedules and frequent communication with multidisciplinary study team and participants

* Supervise and lead data collection visits

* Managing and maintaining participant database, data, and research participants' protection, IRB protocol, expenses- and budgeting-related tasks and activities.

* Assisting with research material preparation (e.g., creating flyers, surveys, websites, newsletters) and social media updates.

* Assisting with organizing outreach events with local communities.

* Supervising research assistants and project staff, including assisting in training and scheduling.

* Attending research team and supervision meetings and providing study progress reports.

* Assisting with results dissemination (e.g., conference abstract, manuscript).

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
Department:

The Department of Kinesiology is a multidisciplinary department that includes undergraduate programs in Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Health Promotion and Health Equity as well as nationally ranked graduate programs in Exercise and Movement Science, Athletic Training, and Occupational Therapy. Compensation:

Minimum: $45,000 annually

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in team environments.
  • Experience conducting research with human subjects.
  • Ability to coordinate study visits and manage schedules.
  • Skill in supervising and training research assistants.
  • Ability to manage participant data and maintain secure databases.
  • Skill in preparing research materials such as surveys and flyers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with populations with mental health conditions.
  • Experience in conducting clinical trials research.
  • Familiarity with community outreach and engagement activities.
  • Experience with social media and website updates for research communications.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Psychology or related field
