Leidos Health and Civil Transportation Solutions is seeking a highly motivated, independent, and experienced Software Developer for the GEO7 Service Lease (G7SL) Program to support the Data Collection and Analysis Facility (DCAF) system and NI LabVIEW-based Monitor and Control (M&C) hardware (HW) and software (SW) system. The program provides 24/7/365 support to the FAA for the execution of the program.

The Software Developer will be a member of a five-person technical team responsible for the operation of the satellite segment for the FAA's Wide-Area Augmentation System (WAAS) G7SL Program. The Software Developer will work with the Software Lead and System Administrator to develop, document, and maintain the operational M&C System and DCAF hardware and software systems that provide near-real time status of the two satellite uplink stations and satellite payload.

This position is required to be 3 days a week onsite in the Gaithersburg, MD office and 2 days a week from home office.

The Software Developer's tasks will include:

  • Perform Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product SW development and integration efforts based upon team requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance operation/functionality of existing code base and be responsive to after-hours support requests as required
  • Coordinate and collaborate with sub-contractor for the development, test, and qualification of new Monitor and Control (M&C) functionality, perform code reviews, and unit test their software.
  • Support DO-178B qualification of the M&C HW/SW with the FAA.
  • Develop and/or maintain data analysis tools and user-interfaces using MATLAB.
  • Support Artificial Intelligence (AI) development and integration into the DCAF system.
  • Maintain and document all COTS software updates.
  • Maintain and document the DCAF Network configuration.
  • Work in partnership with an integrated team of staff and remote contractors (ground station operators and satellite operations personnel).
  • Consult and coordinate appropriately for problem resolution, task scheduling, new resource requirements, and task clarification.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cyber-security/networking, operations, engineering, and testing teams to provide system information and technical support.
  • Document and track vendor software roadmaps for software and patch version updates.
  • In conjunction with the System Administrator, resolve vulnerabilities to comply with NIST 800-171 security requirement.
  • Ensure tasks are completed on schedule.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance to work on FAA programs
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing detailed design and associated deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience translating customer and system requirements into design
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing system interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience developing and troubleshooting multi-threaded Java applications
  • Demonstrated experience developing and troubleshooting Java AJAX web applications using Tomcat, Apache HTTPD, Eclipselink, JAXRS, JQuery, and Glassfish Jersey
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle v8.5 system installations
  • Demonstrated experience navigating Linux OS Command Line Interface
  • Knowledge of basic networking and IP routing concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cisco Networking certification (CCNA/CCNP)
  • Demonstrated experience with vulnerability management using Splunk
  • Demonstrated experience with DO-178B Qualification/Certification
  • Demonstrated recent experience with AI development and integration
  • Understanding of RF communications systems and familiarity with standard RF test equipment
  • Current and active Public Trust security clearance and has approval to work on FAA programs
  • Demonstrated recent experience with LabVIEW and MATLAB
