Department Chair of Biomedical Science Western Michigan University Healthcare Professional Job Description Chair Department of Biomedical Sciences Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine was established in 2012 upon a robust foundation of collaboration between Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo's two teaching health systems - Ascension Borgess and Bronson Healthcare, which includes Bronson Children's Hospital. Opportunity At Western Michigan University School of Medicine, the Department Chair provides academic Leadership for the discipline. The chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences reports to the Chief Academic Officer and is appointed by the Dean. The chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences should have a record of sustained accomplishments and evidence of leadership in a basic science discipline and medical education and is expected to maintain a record of personal success in the discipline and participate in teaching, scholarly activity and research, and professional and community service. The chair must serve as a role model for and represent both faculty and learners. Responsibilities Responsibilities include: Qualifications * Doctorate in a basic science discipline (PhD or MD/PhD) with a minimum of 10 years work experience required.
