We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Data & Tooling to lead the strategy, design, and execution of our data engineering and developer tooling platforms. This leader will play a critical role in scaling ESO's infrastructure, enabling data-driven insights, and equipping engineering teams with the platforms and tools they need to deliver high-quality, resilient software.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Sr. Engineering Manager for Data & Tooling, you will:



  • Lead & Inspire Teams: Build, manage, and mentor high-performing teams of engineers across data engineering, internal platforms, and developer tooling.
  • Drive Data Strategy: Own the vision for ESO's data ecosystem (data pipelines, lakehouse/warehouse, streaming, observability, governance) to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Build Developer Platforms & Tooling: Oversee creation and adoption of internal platforms and automation that improve developer productivity, CI/CD, observability, and reliability.
  • Architect & Operate: Partner with architecture and infrastructure engineering to define cloud-native patterns for data systems, tooling, and services at scale.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with product, security, and business stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure SLAs, security, compliance, and reliability targets are consistently met for data and tooling systems.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of industry trends to evolve ESO's data and developer experience strategies.


What You Bring



  • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering, with 3+ years in a senior people-leadership role managing multiple teams.
  • Strong background indata engineering, data platforms, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Proven experience scaling cloud-native systems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with modern data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, dbt).
  • Deep understanding ofCI/CD, DevOps, observability, and platform/tooling engineering.
  • Track record of building and mentoring inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in a regulated or mission-critical environment (healthcare, public safety, or government) is a plus.
