Based in Silicon Valley and founded in 2013, Reputation is the only platform that empowers companies to fulfill their brand promise by measuring, managing, and scaling their reputation performance in real-time, everywhere. Functioning as a business' eyes and ears in the spaces where customers talk, post, review, and recommend, Reputation AI-powered product stack analyzes vast amounts of public and private feedback data to uncover predictive insights for companies to act on, and improve their online reputations. Visit reputation.com to learn more.

Reputation continues to earn recognition as a trusted leader in both innovation and partnership. Most recently, the company was named an Inc. Power Partner, a distinction awarded to B2B organizations with a proven track record of helping clients thrive. Reputation was also officially Certified as a Great Place to Work, reflecting its commitment to cultivating a world-class culture that fuels long-term success for employees and customers alike.

Why work at Reputation?

  • Reputation has achieved substantial annual recurring revenue from Global Fortune 1000 companies and continues to grow worldwide.

  • Reputation is trusted by more than 250 partners, including Google, Meta, Yelp, Apple Business Connect, Healthgrades and Entrata.

  • The platform is used by major automotive OEMs and thousands of their new vehicle dealerships. Additionally hundreds of healthcare systems and their locations, along with top property management firms have integrated Reputation within their organizations.

  • Who thrives at Reputation? Managers who embody a player-coach mentality. Employees who value teamwork and cross-functional collaboration. People who emphasize perseverance and hustle over quick wins and luck.

  • Our Mission: Help businesses always know what their customers are saying about them and always act on that feedback

We are looking for a Principal Data Scientist who is a hands-on, creative scientific leader to push our AI roadmap forward. You will own high-impact AI/ML initiatives end-to-end, mentor senior/early career data scientists, and work across data engineering, software engineering, and product to ship differentiated, reliable AI products. Our stack includes GCP, Langfuse for LLM observability, Qdrant and OpenAI/Gemini for foundation models.

Mission

As a Principal Data Scientist, you will develop algorithms to build customer facing products and build models that measure and maximize the value of extensive data sets and lead the creation of production-grade data and AI/ML products.

What you will do

  • Lead and own multiple core models and data products, from problem framing and scientific approach through prototyping, rigorous evaluation, productionization, and continuous improvement.

  • Ship AI features with measurable business impact; partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Sales, and Operations to identify opportunities, define success metrics, and deliver outcomes.

  • Drive advanced ML and statistical methods across the team, including supervised learning, NLP/LLMs, causal inference/experimentation, uncertainty quantification, and model calibration.

  • Architect and implement LLM solutions (OpenAI, Gemini) including prompt and tool design, RAG, vector search, function calling/agents, guardrails, and cost/latency optimization.

  • Establish robust LLM/ML evaluation and observability: offline and human-in-the-loop evals, golden datasets and rubrics, A/B tests, safety and hallucination metrics, and production monitoring using Langfuse.

  • Work with our Engineers to build reliable pipelines and services on GCP with CI/CD, testing, and model governance.

  • Mentor and up-level a strong team of data scientists; set scientific and engineering standards, code quality practices, and reusable patterns. Provide technical leadership across teams.

  • Communicate complex findings clearly to executives and non-technical partners; influence strategy and roadmap with data-driven recommendations.

  • Use AI-assisted coding responsibly to accelerate POCs while maintaining scientific rigor and quality.

  • Champion responsible AI practices including privacy, security, fairness, and model risk management.

Qualifications (required)

  • 8+ years of progressive data science experience, including significant leadership/strategy ownership and mentoring of senior/staff-level practitioners.

  • Proven track record shipping AI/ML features or SaaS products to production at scale, with clear impact metrics.

  • Deep expertise in machine learning and statistics: problem formulation, feature engineering, model selection, evaluation design, causal inference/experimentation, calibration, and reliability.

  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL; production-quality code, testing, and CI/CD practices. Comfortable reviewing PRs and setting coding standards. JavaScript, Node and TypeScript experience is a plus.

  • Experience on GCP (or AWS) training, pipelines, endpoints, and integrating with data engineering workflows.

  • Practical experience with OpenAI and Gemini APIs and LLM productization; LLM evaluation/observability using Langfuse (or similar).

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate ambiguous business needs into solid scientific plans and roadmaps.

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, or related field.

  • NLP expertise including LLMs, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and vector databases/search (e.g., BigQuery vector search, Pinecone, Weaviate, PGvector, Qdrant).

  • MLOps best practices: feature stores, model registries, monitoring/drift detection, cost and latency optimization, model governance.

  • Experimentation platforms and causal inference for product decisions; comfort with A/B testing at scale.

  • Building multi-tenant SaaS ML systems; microservices, containers, Cloud Run, Cloud Build/GitHub Actions.

  • Data visualization and storytelling to executive audiences.

  • Experience with privacy, security, and responsible AI frameworks.

If you are excited to combine scientific rigor with creative product thinking and to guide teams shipping reliable AI, we would love to talk.
