The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for the following systems: HVAC wet/dry, plumbing, controls and the like.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

* Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, general manufacturing/process facilities and institutional facilities
* Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection
* Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
* Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
* Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
* Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by discipline team
* Responsible for the development of conceptual, preliminary, and final design documentation, including system sizing and selection calculations, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings, and sequences of operation for associated systems
* Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
* Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines' inputs are incorporated
* Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
* Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
* Other duties as assigned

Show your expertise

Minimum Required

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
* Professional Engineer (PE) License required
* 10+ years of experience
* Autodesk Building Systems Software

Preferred

* Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record

Skills & Knowledge

* Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
* Individual must possess strong communication and organizational skills
* Strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
* Energetic and self-motivated
* Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
* Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities and systems
* Working knowledge of Microsoft products
* Ability to mentor and train junior staff
