Nursing Assistant (SY)

Job Description

Assists patients in obtaining the maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. Performs direct/indirect nursing procedures and technical/ laboratory activities as appropriate and in accordance with the operating policies and procedures.

Job Responsibility

• * Administers nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
  
  
  
  • Gives hygienic care to patients assigned and oversees/assists with activities of daily living; performs assigned treatments and procedures.
  • Takes vital signs of patients assigned and reports values to the nurse in charge.
  • Reports observations and unusual conditions of patients to the Registered Nurse.
  • Prepares patients for meals and helps feed them as assigned.
  • Observes patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
  • Follows principles of infection control and patient safety.
  • Assists patient to wheelchair or stretcher.
  • Collects required specimens as directed; e.g., urine, feces, sputum.
  
  
• * Maintains the environment of patients.
  
  
  
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment in patient's room.
  • Participates in ensuring that work areas are clean.
  • Replenishes supplies as necessary.
  
  
• Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program.
• Minimum of one (1) year work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
