Food Service Assistant III - Emergency Department Host/Hostess | Part-Time | Rotating Shifts | Christiana Hospital - Newark campus

ChristianaCare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Service Assistant III to serve as a Host/Hostess in our Emergency Department. This unique role is designed to enhance the patient and visitor experience by providing warm, welcoming, and attentive food service support in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Location: Christiana Hospital - Newark, DE
Schedule: Part-Time (40 hours biweekly)
Shifts: Rotating - 7:30 AM-4:00 PM and 11:30 AM-8:00 PM; requires working every other weekend and holiday rotation.

• Serve meals and snacks to patients in accordance with dietary guidelines.
• Collect and process patient menu selections using iPad technology.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure accurate diet orders.
• Provide outstanding customer service and practice service recovery.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of pantry and service areas.
• Monitor patient satisfaction and communicate feedback to the nutrition team.
• Rotate between morning and evening shifts to support 24/7 patient care.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable using technology (iPad) for menu collection.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.
