Instructional Assistant II: Student Academic Support

Job Description:

The Instructional Assistant - Student Academic Support role will provide direct small-group and one-on-one academic support under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher, to students based on identified needs. This role is designed to strengthen instructional equity, with particular attention to supporting English Learners as identified in our CSIP. This position would support students in acquiring academic content vocabulary and accessing grade-level learning. They will work closely with teachers, coaches, and specialists, and the Student Academic Support Assistant will ensure that highest need students receive consistent, targeted support that advances achievement and aligns with schoolwide improvement goals. This position will report to the School Principal.

Qualifications:

• Education: 48 college credits or an AA degree, or be able to demonstrate college level skills in spelling, reading, writing and math by passing a proficiency test.

• Certificates & Licenses: CPR and First Aid Certification strongly desired. If the selected candidate does not have CPR and First Aid Certification, they must be able to obtain both within 6 months of employment.

• Experience: Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility required.

Essential Functions:

• Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support tailored to student needs through in class and pull out support
• Assisting with organization, preparing and modifying instructional materials
• Support tiered intervention for students
• Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and specialists to reinforce targeted strategies as outlined in our CSIP
• Assist with monitoring student progress through data collection and documenting growth to inform instruction
• Provide targeted support to English Learners in acquiring academic content vocabulary
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that promotes student success

Pay Information: Hourly wage $20.10 to $24.73 an hour (Additional factors in calculation, including hours, # of days, etc.)

Clearances:

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
• Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance

• Must follow safety and health protocols.
