Duties

Interviews will be in person at our Tumwater Office and will be scheduled on November 12th, 13th, and 14th. The hiring manager reserves the right to make a hiring decision at any time during the recruitment process. The Opportunity Working in the Cash Receipting Unit in Trust Accounting, you will play a vital part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You'll coordinate with the Office of the State Treasurer (OST), Accounting Services team members, and other internal partners to process and reconcile financial transactions related to member and employer retirement contributions, payments, and trust accounts. Some of What You'll Do:
- Receive and process check and ACH/wire payments for member and employer retirement contributions, deferred compensation, and the DRS administrative fund.
- Post cash/check, EFT and journal voucher payments to the appropriate accounts.
- Balance payment advice forms to payments received and input daily receipts.
- Monitor the shared email cash inbox for employer correspondences related to EFT payments.
- Review and reconcile daily ePayment reports and prepare and submit ACH transmittals for employer ePayment files at OST.
- Prepare AFRS transaction batches for recording into the state accounting system.
NOTE: The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday with some flexibility with start/end times. After successful completion of the review period and effectively demonstrating the ability to perform work independently, you may be eligible to telework four (4) days per week every third week, at the discretion of the Appointing Authority and with a telework agreement in place. You must live within a reasonable commuting distance (less than 50 straight-line miles) to the DRS building in Tumwater, WA, and must be willing and able to adjust your telework schedule whenever necessary to complete work assignments, attend mandatory meetings, trainings, etc., at the DRS facility.

Qualifications

What we're looking for (required qualifications): Qualifying candidates should satisfy the following requirements below (Experience for qualifications can be gained through various combinations of professional employment, education, and volunteer/personal experience. Experience can be concurrent):
- Demonstrated experience summarizing, preparing, and posting daily receipts, received by check or electronic transfer, into a financial system.
This experience is typically earned through two (2) years of professional full-time accounting experience.
- Demonstrated general accounting experience performing reconciliations, preferably in a government entity. This is typically gained through one (1) year of full-time experience;
- Demonstrated skill and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Teams (version 2016 or newer);
- Demonstrated proficiency using a 10-key calculator;
- Experience working in a Washington state agency and using the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and its processes is highly desirable (but is not required); and
- Demonstrated proficiency in the following competency areas:
