OverviewMicrosoft's Commerce & Ecosystem (C+E) division powers one of the largest commercial platforms in the world, handling billions in revenue from Azure, Office 365, Windows, Dynamics, and more. We design and operate the financial and commerce systems that keep Microsoft running-and we're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help us take these systems to the next level. In this role, you will work across teams and organizational boundaries to ensure engineering excellence at scale. You will design, build, and modernize secure, compliant, and high-performance services that drive Microsoft's commerce and financial platforms. A key focus of the role is using AI to accelerate development, improve system reliability, and transform how we deliver solutions to our business partners and customers.
ResponsibilitiesUse AI technologies to streamline development workflows, reinforce simplicity in design, improve test automation, and enhance system redundancy and scalabilityLead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable software systems for Microsoft's financial and commerce operations, with a strong emphasis on simplicity and testabilityPartner across teams to ensure engineering efforts align with business, compliance, and operational goals, prioritizing solutions that are robust, easy to observe, and simple to maintainDrive development practices that prioritize clear code, observability, automated testing, built-in redundancy, and the ability to scale easilyEstablish strong governance for APIs, data security, and compliance, ensuring systems remain simple to operate, resilient under load, and straightforward to monitorMentor engineers and foster a team culture that values learning, inclusion, technical rigor, and continuous improvement through simple, reliable engineering practicesInfluence product strategy and technology decisions for Microsoft's commerce platform, promoting systems that are easy to support, test, and scale | |
