Role Purpose
As a Roadmaster / Track Manager, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of railroad track infrastructure within your designated territory. You will be accountable for the safety, quality, and operational efficiency of the railroad system that you manage. Your role includes inspections, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional coordination to ensure the continuous and reliable service of the network.

Key Responsibilities




  • Initiate track maintenance and construction projects in accordance with department guidelines and roadway programs.



  • Develop work plans, manage funding and spend plans, and monitor project schedules.



  • Coordinate track maintenance and construction projects in collaboration with other departments.



  • Supervise the section workforce and manage procurement of materials to align with project schedule and budget.



  • Ensure regular track inspections are performed; prepare and submit maintenance reports to Alstom Management and to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).



  • Ensure all FRA standards, railroad carrier standards, and Alstom's internal guidelines are met.



  • Contribute to and implement safety plans, emergency response processes (including hurricane preparedness), and hazard prevention strategies.



  • Maintain a safe and dependable environment for all operations, including vehicle and equipment upkeep.





Qualifications




  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent); significant on-the-job training in railroad operations is essential.



  • Extensive knowledge of railroad operations, engineering instructions, and federal safety standards.



  • Strong management skills with the ability to oversee multiple operations and coordinate large teams.



  • Responsible, reliable, and available for on-call duties as required.



  • Proven experience in track maintenance, inspections, or a related railroad technical discipline.
