MATERIAL PLANNER This high-profile, cross-functional position plays an integral role in supporting the design, build, and test of launch vehicles and test equipment. Join the team as a material planner to manage supply and demand signals at the SpaceX Rocket Development and Test Facility, balancing fast-paced development builds and rigorous production requirements. You will work closely with a full spectrum of partners, including engineering, purchasing, supply chain, technicians, and suppliers. With engine tests happening on site, you can see the impact of your work and watch your products come to life every day! RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Release purchase orders, work orders, inventory transfers, and planning messages to prevent shortages, ensure on-time delivery, monitor inventory/demand, initiate purchase signals, and maintain healthy stock levels
- Maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOM) for assemblies, including identifying critical spares and determining optimal quantities in collaboration with engineering
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, supply chain, and other stakeholders to enhance efficiencies, processes, data integrity, material/information flow, and cross-disciplinary relationships
- Analyze, forecast, and report supply chain data using SQL, Excel, and Power BI
- Identify and implement improvements in cost, quality, lead time, and processes, including automation of planning/sourcing activities and new methods for critical component flow
- Resolve production/supply chain blockers and serve as the primary point of contact for issues, embodying customer service for technicians, engineers, and management
- Develop strategies for optimal stock levels and reorder points based on part criticality, lead times, pricing, and consumption rates
- Assess and leverage supplier capabilities, capacity, equipment, and risks in procurement; handle invoice resolution while meeting quality and cost targets.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following, or a high school diploma or equivalency and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
- Supply Chain
- Production
- Engineering
- Operations
- Scheduling
- Purchasing
- Planning
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society), Lean Six Sigma, or similar certifications
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, both independently and in a team
- Demonstrated efficiency in time management, interpersonal communication, and organization
- Strong skills in data analysis using Excel, SQL (Structured Query Language), and Power BI
- 5+ years planning and/or buying experience
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment
- Strong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work and simultaneous projects
- Detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency
- Experience working with complex manufacturing in an aerospace, automotive, or related industry
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Valid driver's license
- Work schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
- Occasional travel to other SpaceX or 3rd party facilities (up to 10%)
