The Banquet Captain is responsible for the oversight and execution of catered functions; including service, food preparation, equipment use and food safety practices. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Oversees and
assist with the setup, service and breakdown of events, ensuring that all aspects run smoothly. - Greets and
welcome guests, assist with seating and food service. - Responsible for
assisting with the set-up, service and clean-up of all assigned banquet functions; sometimes multiple events in a day. - Coordinates
orders and table service. - Serves food and
beverages to guests efficiently, ensuring proper presentations and timing. - Works
collaboratively with the Event Planning team to ensure exceptional customer service. - Addresses any
unexpected changes such as; increase in attendees, changes in dietary restrictions and staffing adjustments. - Acts as a point
of contact for the client and/or host; Addresses and resolves client complaints. - Anticipates potential issues during events and proactively resolve them.
- Assists in the
training and mentoring of food service staff. - Monitors and
maintains banquet supplies. - Ensures all
supplies are in good working condition before each event and request replacements as necessary. - Ensures safe
handling of food and sanitation of equipment. - Handles
customer complaints promptly and work to find a resolution. - Additional
duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of
customer service, catering operations and safe food service practices. - Ability to
effectively communicate effectively. - Ability to work
in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to
move/transport up to 50lbs.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
