These are the mission-critical systems that keep our nation secure and resilient. We're seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join us at the U.S. Coast Guard C5ISC in Alexandria, VA. In this hands-on role, you'll design and lead transformative cloud initiatives that power critical Coast Guard operations. Leveraging deep expertise in AWS, Azure, and Python, you'll architect scalable cloud-native solutions, guide development efforts, and ensure best practices across architecture, deployment, and security-while mentoring and driving innovation that directly strengthens national security. Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement and support cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform environments in alignment with established architecture and security standards.
- Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based applications and services.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of infrastructure as code (IaC) templates, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in modernization efforts, including application refactoring, containerization, and migration of workloads to cloud environments.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, ensuring reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement DevSecOps practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery workflows.
- Support the implementation of security controls aligned with Zero Trust principles, IAM policies, and compliance requirements.
- Perform system administration and troubleshooting to resolve performance and configuration issues across environments.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure integration and alignment of technical solutions.
- Assist in incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for production and deployment issues.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including configuration details, deployment procedures, and environment standards.
- Research and recommend tooling improvements or automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide input into sprint planning, backlog grooming, and process improvements.
Basic Qualification:
- Requires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 4+ year of Administration experience with cloud-based applications (MS O365, SharePoint, Azure AD, AWS)
- Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, including creation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and patching.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML, and related standards, procedures, and processes.
- Proficient with cloud platforms and tools: AWS Console, Azure, Elastic, Ansible, Jira, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket, and various SaaS offerings.
- Experience onboarding and integrating customer log data from AWS and Azure to on-premises or cloud-based analysis platforms such as Elastic or Splunk.
- Skilled in supporting AWS cloud-hosted applications, including deployments, patches, security checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to develop, optimize, and document administrative processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational workflows.
- Collaborates with SMEs and security teams to define and implement secure cloud architectures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Performs operational and day-to-day administrative support, including issue troubleshooting, change management, and problem resolution.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Kafka is highly desirable
- Proficiency with Power BI and API management is a strong advantage
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
- Must, at a minimum, have one of these certifications: MCSE (Server), Certified AWS SysAdmin, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Dev/Associate), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified Security, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
