Position Summary

Oversees business planning and analysis, directs reporting and compliance, business process, cash control, and various administrative operations for Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Leads the financial plans and policies of the resort in conjunction with Alterra FP&A leadership. Participates in the resort's senior leadership team and coordinates work between the resort and Alterra Shared Services.

Essential Duties

Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the executive finance leader providing strategic vision and tactical direction to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Act as a strategic financial business partner to resort divisions/operations.
  • Deliver on the resort's strategic financial growth targets.
  • Provide personal development guidance to team members and foster long-term engagement.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Direct accurate and timely financial reporting to business unit managers, resort leaders, and corporate finance.
  • Review operating financial statements for accuracy and coordinate corrections with Shared Services.
  • Perform variance analysis and follow-up with business unit managers.
  • Lead development of new reports to track key performance measures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Maintain relationships with banks, lenders, county, and other governmental officials.
  • Lead monthly calls with corporate office to explain variances and forecasts.

Business Process

  • Oversee resort revenue accounting functions and internal controls.
  • Supervise cash issuance and compliance with cash handling policies.
  • Ensure SOX-compliant business processes and oversee internal audits.
  • Develop financial training courses for managers and supervisors.
  • Interpret and communicate complex financial information to SLT and other leaders.
  • Ensure successful implementation and management of ERP systems.

Business Planning & Analysis

  • Lead preparation and presentation of the annual business plan and long-term growth strategies.
  • Develop Snowshoe's annual and 5-year capital plan in collaboration with the President & COO.
  • Maintain and report on capital projects to ensure alignment with strategic and financial objectives.
  • Set financial targets for each division/business unit.
  • Lead detailed budget development and review processes.
  • Forecast and report operating and capital expenditures.
  • Participate in revenue maximization strategies and financial analyses (e.g., benchmarking, new business assessments).

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Direct Experience

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA, Master's, or MBA in Finance preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience; 12-15 years preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory financial management experience in private industry (ski or hospitality industry preferred).
  • Proven financial leadership and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of revenue management strategies.
  • Broad technical knowledge of finance and accounting.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • This position is often required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Significant indoor and outdoor mobility throughout the Resort is required.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices, and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
