This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the future of cloud computing and work on technologies that impact millions of users worldwide.As a Senior Software Engineer on the Azure Host Storage team, you will help deliver the storage virtualization platform that supports Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service, and containers. You will work across the full storage stack on Azure hosts, including input/output (I/O) handling, data caching, Quality of Service (QoS), encryption, and offloading I/O processing into silicon. Our mission is to build next-generation storage solutions capable of scaling to millions of input/output operations per second (IOPS) per virtual machine at sub-millisecond latency.In this role, you will lead feature development, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to design systems that operate at massive scale. ResponsibilitiesContribute to the next generation of Host Storage Control path to improve the availability and performance of Azure VMs as well as enable Baremetal offeringsCollaborate with various stakeholders to enable various end-user scenariosImprove the control path architecture to enhance platform reliability, performance while reducing the Azure Host resource usageCreate and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
