Your Role at Baxter:

Baxter's ($10.6B) Medical Products and Therapies Segment ($5.2B) includes our Infusion Therapies & Technologies (pumps, IV bags and nutritional solutions) and Advanced Surgery businesses (biopharmaceuticals used by surgeons in the OR). As the Senior Program Manager R&D Product Delivery Excellence (PDE), Medical Products & Therapies (MPT) segment, you will provide business and technical leadership, execute on this major, high-complexity program, managing and leading cross functional teams through the identification, justification, prioritization, initiation, development and implementation of the PDE processes. You will lead various business needs including financial analysis while providing high level process leadership. One of the key responsibilities will include strong collaboration with numerous cross-functional partners across Baxter's segments including R&D, marketing, legal, operations, regulatory, integrated supply chain, purchasing, commercial, quality, etc. to ensure smooth execution. You will interact with and influence senior stakeholders across Baxter. Though your alignment is with MPT, you will work collaboratively across all other segments Healthcare Systems and Technologies (HST) and Pharma.

As the Senior Program Manager R&D PDE, you will serve as a coach and mentor for the program, core teams, extended teams, functional leaders and project management capabilities across the organization. You will work on processes of varying complexity including standard, complex and differentiated developments.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the organization's PDE framework, including process governance, stage gate methodology, and portfolio management practices

  • Drive adoption of standardized process tools, templates and metrics to improve consistency and predictability of R&D outcomes which add value to the enterprise

  • Drive utilization across MPT with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Accountable for core team guidance in relation to the PDE process across the MPT portfolio of projects

  • Serve as a coach / mentor for junior team members and champions one or more areas of project execution

  • Orchestrate team collaboration and acceptance processes

  • Create process efficiencies that span the entire organization, helping to streamline the business and increase productivity

  • Active leadership through influence in cross-functional stakeholder management discussions, helping the business define the future direction of the PDE program

  • Interact through program updates and reviews with all functions and levels of management ensuring effective ongoing communications across teams and stakeholders

  • Anticipate potential conflict situations for proactive solutions and manages conflict situations to result in win-win outcomes

  • Maximize business results through continuous improvement in organization's ability to execute programs from identification through implementation

  • Foster collaboration

  • Drive consistency across Baxter (HST, Pharma, Connected Care)

  • Optimize Continuous Improvement process

Your Team:

As the Senior Program Manager R&D Product Delivery Excellence, you will be an Individual contributor (no direct reports) reporting to Senior Director R&D MPT PMO.

Your Location:

The role is located at our largest R&D facility in the greater Chicago area northern suburb of Round Lake, IL. Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science or related technical field, advanced degree required. MBA preferred

  • PMP, Lean Six-Sigma or similar certification a plus

  • 7-10 years of experience in R&D, product development or process excellence with at least 3 years in a leadership through influence role

  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional product development initiatives from concept to commercialization

  • Deep understanding of stage-gate or similar product lifecycle management methodologies

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with performance metrics, dashboards and reporting tools

  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience in medical devices is required, biotech a plus, and manufacturing strongly preferred

  • Must possess expertise in all aspects of program management and product development throughout the full product lifecycle

  • Maximizes business results through continuous improvement in organization's ability to execute programs from identification through implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and coach others

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000 - $198,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or long-term incentive.
