Undergraduate degree programs include 4 year BS and 5 year BS/MS programs in Biology and Bioinformatics. Faculty members in the School of Biological Sciences have the opportunity to work with students from all majors on campus. Job Summary
The Research Administration Support role provides essential administrative and operational assistance for research projects and laboratory activities. This role helps ensure compliance with funding and institute policies, supports lab coordination, and promotes efficient research operations.
Primary duties will focus on working across various projects involving Pseudomonas aeruginosa (and/or an associated microbial community), typically involving phenotypic assays, experimental evolution, and molecular assays, including sequencing prep. Secondary duties will involve lab management tasks, including overseeing safety measures, training, equipment maintenance, purchasing, stock management, etc. These will involve consulting with research leadership to determine the scope and extent of experimental and analysis needs, as well as collaboratively setting up and conducting experiments following prescribed procedures and protocols.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Assist with documentation, compliance tracking, and reporting for research projects. Job Duty 2 - Collaborate in preparing and submitting research proposals, providing detailed support for budget development and financial monitoring. Job Duty 3 - Help maintain inventory, coordinate equipment upkeep, and support safety compliance efforts. Job Duty 4 - Assist in ensuring research activities follow institutional, state, and federal regulations. Job Duty 5 - Participate in training on research policies, lab safety, and compliance standards. Job Duty 6 - Serve as a point of contact between researchers, funding sources, and institutional offices. Job Duty 7 - Organize and manage logistics for research meetings, workshops, and presentations to support project goals and stakeholder engagement. Job Duty 8 - Maintain and audit research records and compliance documentation to support data integrity and audit readiness. Educational Requirements Preferred Qualifications
Must have a degree, preferably in biological sciences or a related field.
Must have experience with general bacteriology practices (e.g., aseptic technique, growth of bacteria, maintenance of freezer stocks), previous work with
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
is a plus
Experience working in a lab management role (ordering, equipment maintenance, and experimental support roles) is a plus.
Experience working with molecular biology (e.g., cloning, PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR) or hands-on experience with Next-Gen Sequencing library preparation is a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience making 16S sequencing libraries or extensive experience performing qPCR.
Experience with multimode plate readers and/or lab automation is a plus.

This is a limited-term position for 1 year, with no extensions. Employment is ultimately contingent upon available funding and business needs. All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon available funding, business needs, and your performance of the assignment. Georgia Tech retains the right to terminate this assignment at any time for cause or, in its sole discretion, for convenience; in either case, Georgia Tech's obligation shall be limited to payment for hours and/or days worked before the termination date. Any decision to renew this limited term appointment will be communicated by April 2026. Other Information
