POSITION CONCEPT
The Mgr New Construction Project Management and Support is responsible for providing leadership and supervision for Tampa Electric's New Construction Project Management (NCPM) and Support team that manages $10M annually of large residential, commercial, and industrial new construction projects. Responsible for developing strategically-focused metrics, creating and implementing procedures, and associated training for all team member to ensure quality customer service. Provide team members with the resources, training, coaching and leadership needed to satisfy our customers while balancing the interests of the company and its shareholders.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage and lead the daily operations of the Project Managers and administrative resources needed to manage $10 million (per annum) of additions and changes to the electrical distribution system that serves new and existing customers. These activities involve the application of sound engineering practice, ensuring applicable codes, regulatory requirements, proper financials, and company standards are met and balanced with the goals and corporate objectives, and business needs. Develops departmental standards of performance, analyzes data and associated reports and makes changes necessary to ensure goals and objectives are met. Ensures employees are compliant with the standards, policies and procedures of the department and Tampa Electric Company.
  • Addresses customer and FPSC complaints from initial contact to problem resolution, involving company resources, such as assigned account representatives, as needed. Investigate and implement solutions. To mitigate customer complaints and ensure commercial projects meet customer timelines and needs while also ensuring the existing electrical system meets the TEC distribution reliability standards. Additionally, assist with claims investigations as needed.
  • Involve System Planning and Economic Development on projects related to future electrical system expansion and modifications and participate and provide consultation in major load additions and projects of unusual nature such as relay service. Monitor the service area construction program and act as project leader as assigned. Provide input for budgeting capital construction projects.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses and coach team members to ensure compliance with current safety procedures. Communicate safety expectations, recognize safety achievement and review safety statistics monthly. Support Safety Committee activities and Customer Experience Safety efforts.
  • Manage cost center overtime and capital specific budget; review and approve team member business expenses. Provide input to the service area's business plan and annual budget, including the tools, methods, and procedures. Identify, evaluate and develop new and existing technologies and strategies for process improvements, efficiencies and safety. Serve as back-up to leadership in his/her absence. Responsible for reviewing and approving all invoicing, expense reports, etc.
  • Based on strategic initiatives, establishes metrics and monitors the direction and targets of the NCPM team to ensure customers receive on-time delivery of new construction projects. Provides insight into digital platforms geared toward customer self-service (New Construction Portal) and efforts to drive efficiency and decrease project timelines. Provides and/or oversees all departmental training necessitated due to process changes, in addition to the technical training.



QUALIFICATIONS
Education



  • Required: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in business, engineering or related field.


Experience



  • Required: 8 years of utility customer service experience, including project management, utility conservation programs.


Supervisory Experience



  • Required: 4 years of team leadership and work coordination experience.
  • Preferred: Supervision of a multi-functional work team.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)



  • Preferred:

    • Demonstrated supervisory experience and trained in Selection for Excellence, Positive Discipline, EAP, Performance Review process.
    • Knowledge of Tampa Electric policies and procedures including SAP.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Some weekend and extended hours beyond the normal work week (M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) are required during public events and emergency conditions. Occasional travel may be required for training/conference opportunities, representation of company matters at the FPSC, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May be required to work in field conditions near energized electrical equipment, walk in rough terrain and lift objects up to 50 lbs., while wearing Fire Resistant clothing and Personal Protective Equipment as required per the Safe Work Practices manual.
