Job Description

This position will ensure a safe and inviting experience from all attendees of the S&T Fitness Center. Manage group fitness, fitness center itself, personal training, and preventive maintenance. Recruit, interview, hire, train staff with ongoing coaching and evaluation of student staff. Oversee the creation and development of fitness programming for exercise consultants, special classes with Student Well-Being, give tours with Admissions and prospective students, and host fitness center orientations. Provide maintenance and repair of equipment and plan long range equipment replacement and purchases to recommend to the Director of Athletics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure an excellent customer experience for all attendees of the Student Rec/Fitness Center. Oversee Access Control in collaboration with campus Access Control MGR. Manage, track, and report on all non-student membership processing
  • Facilitate operations management and assessment including ongoing preventative maintenance and equipment repairs. Maintain goal of zero down time for repairs and upholstery. Update preventative maintenance schedules as needed. Submit all equipment improvement or replacement plans early in the fiscal year to adhere to budgetary restraints. Maintain financial and program accountability
  • Develop and schedule in-service training sessions for all programming and operations. Instruct and certify all staff in CPR/First Aid/AED classes
  • Oversee the creation and development of fitness programming for Exercise Consultations, special class sessions with Student Well-Being, tours with Admissions, and Fitness Center Operations
  • Supervise group fitness instructors, personal trainers, fitness center staff and student maintenance staff
  • Participate in employee recruitment, orientation, specific training, evaluations, student leadership and staff recognition opportunities
  • Coach friendly and industrious attitudes. Keep staff handbook current
  • Ensure all staff are aware of the Student Recreation Center's emergency procedures
  • Participate in university-wide committees as needed
  • Act as liaison with Student Well-Being and Student Health Services
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,916 to $53,715 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
