Description

The Film and Media Studies Program at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 to teach two courses (one in the fall, one in the spring) on the theory and practice of PR, marketing, and branding. One of these courses (FMS 0032 Public Relations and Marketing: A History of Theory and Tactics) is an introductory lecture that covers the history of PR and marketing in the USA. The second (FMS 0160 Branding: Theory and Practice) is a more advanced seminar that focuses on branding.

The ideal instructor will bring substantial professional experience in public relations, marketing, branding, and/or media consulting, along with a critical understanding of the historical and theoretical development of these fields in the U.S. Candidates should be able to connect real-world industry practices to broader media, cultural, and technological trends, guiding students in analyzing how strategic communication has shaped public and cultural discourse over time. Teaching experience is required as is applied knowledge of communications theory and its historical evolution.
