What you'll do:

As an IT Director II, you'll lead the delivery of IT strategy through actionable planning and execution, leveraging partnerships across Architecture, Infrastructure, Engineering, Application Teams, Support, and strategic third-party providers. In this role, you will oversee strategic alignment, IT portfolio governance, performance reporting, and resource optimization across all IT initiatives, ensuring measurable business value and alignment with the bank's growth, regulatory, and customer experience objectives.

You will collaborate closely with internal business partners-including the Head of IT Strategy, IT Leadership Team, IT Business Operations, Agile Center of Excellence, Enterprise PMO, Risk and Compliance, and Finance and FP&A-to proactively address evolving customer and stakeholder needs, resolve issues swiftly, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and delivery excellence.

As part of the IT Strategy, Portfolio & Delivery Office (SPDO), you'll be accountable for building and driving strategic planning for the delivery of products and services, evaluating technology standards, and recommending improvements to established business processes.
  • Manage matrixed teams across multiple domains working on complex problems and solutions.
  • Partner with HR and IT Leadership's to build and implement a strategy for employee development, retention, resource allocation, talent management, performance management, and achieve a diverse and engaged workforce as well as recruit, train, and evaluate staff members work.
  • Participate in annual budget planning as well as manage a budget, business cases, execution plans, and operating plans and build any resource plan needed to achieve established program priorities.
  • Ensure adequate risk management and controls are established and maintained in alignment with the risk appetite for the bank, as well as any applicable regulatory and enterprise risk management expectations.
  • Strategic Planning & Alignment: Collaborate with IT and business leadership to define and evolve the IT strategy. Ensure all IT initiatives align with corporate goals and regulatory requirements. Maintain and communicate the IT Strategic Roadmap.
  • IT Portfolio Management: Own the IT portfolio lifecycle, including intake, prioritization, and performance tracking. Facilitate quarterly portfolio reviews and executive dashboards. Monitor benefit realization, risk exposure, and strategic alignment of projects.
  • Governance & Compliance: Implement and maintain portfolio governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, FFIEC). Ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
  • Support audit readiness and reporting.
  • Performance Reporting: Lead the development of Quarterly Performance Reports (QPRs). Establish and maintain a centralized KPI repository aligned to IT strategic objectives. Provide transparency into delivery health, resource utilization, and ROI.
  • Resource Optimization: Oversee demand and capacity planning across IT programs.
  • Partner with IT Business Operations to balance FTE/contractor mix and location strategy. Support workforce optimization initiatives and talent pipeline development.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead a team of Portfolio Analysts and Program Managers. Partner with Agile COE, PMO, and SDLC SMEs to drive excellence in project execution. Act as a strategic advisor to IT leadership on investment decisions and prioritization.

What you'll need:

  • 12+ years of related experience or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced to expert experience in managing multiple large technology teams (Application Engineering Support and Delivery, Infrastructure Engineering Support and Delivery, Architecture, or Project Management) while working on complex solutions and products with additional responsibility for the execution of KPIs and timelines.
  • Advanced to expert experience building and delivering on strategic IT solutions with proven ability to analyze a variety of data and summarize findings in applicable reports or other communication mediums. Utilize data to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for growth by collaborating with business and tech leads.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
