Lead Resident Care Assistant

All Three Shifts

Full time

Assisted Living located in Wauwatosa, WI

The Lead Resident Care Assistant acts as a team lead for each shift. The Lead Resident Care Assistant assumes all the job functions and responsibilities as the Resident Care Assistant along with the responsibilities listed below. The Resident Care Assistant provides care to the resident including activities of daily living, assisting with meals, preparing and administering medications and treatments. They also assist in person-centered, individual care including social and spiritual well-being of each resident.



  • Monitor shift attendance
  • Oversee the 24 Hour Board - check on residents that may be experiencing new symptoms, take vitals and record, update MD as appropriate
  • Make sure staff have signed in/out keys and phone
  • Carry and answer the Nurse Phone
  • Attending to any resident change of condition which can include, but not limited to: fall, skin issue, potential elopement, etc. Completion of Resident Incident Report and updating MD, Family and On Call Manager
  • Completion of Employee Incident Report and updating on call Manager
  • Update the residents physician and family member as necessary and outlined in the Lead RCA Binder
  • Updating Hospice of any changes in their resident
  • Address employee call in's: attempt to find coverage, update on call manager as soon as possible
  • Update On Call Manager with any changes
  • High School Education or Equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age per State Requirements
  • Successful completion of Caregiver Background check every four years as outlined by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services
  • Successful completion of the required CBRF training as outlined in DHS 83 including the Medication Assistant Training Program and is certified by the State of Wisconsin for medication administration in a CBRF setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential to being able to direct peers according to Luther Manor Values, expectations and has received instruction and coursework to measure and record blood pressure and radial pulse.
  • Has received instruction on medication actions, medication effects on the body systems and side effects, especially in relation to geriatric residents.
  • Ability to administer and document medications to Courtyards residents in a safe manner. Ability to document medication administration legibly and accurately.
  • The ability to communicate effectively. Ability to read and write English,
  • Must be able to push, pull or lift 35 lbs.
  • Mobility to spend 90% of the work shift standing and/or moving about the work area.
  • Assist with orientation of new Resident Assistants.
