Videotapes and edits program material for university television station and other university departments. Receives specific instructions from a producer. Incumbents in this classification are required to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to accommodate evening and weekend shifts and travel to on-site locations for taping.

Major/Essential Functions

The Videographer/Photographer will be responsible for creating high-quality visual content that enhances the College of Media & Communication's brand and effectively communicates key messages to prospective students, alumni, faculty, and the public. This role requires a creative professional with experience in storytelling through photography and videography, ensuring all visual media aligns with the college's mission and strategic goals.

  • Photography & Videography: Capture dynamic and engaging photos and videos of events, students, faculty, and campus life for use across digital and print platforms, including social media, websites, promotional materials, and press releases.
  • Editing & Post-Production: Perform professional editing of photos and videos to ensure high-quality output, including color correction, sound design, and motion graphics when necessary.
  • Storytelling: Collaborate with marketing team to conceptualize and execute visual storytelling that highlight the achievements and experiences of the college's community.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining the highest level of quality.
  • Equipment Management: Operate and maintain cameras, lighting, audio, and video equipment. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in technology to recommend new tools or techniques.
  • Collaborations: Work closely with designer, social media manager, and other content creators to ensure cohesive branding and messaging across all media.
  • Event Coverage: Provide comprehensive photography and videography coverage for College of Media and Communication events, including lectures, workshops, student activities, and external outreach efforts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of photo and video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in AND one year experience operating video cameras and editing equipment; OR, Five years experience operating video cameras and editing equipment.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or experience in related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in photography and video production settings.
  • Experience working with and directing student assistants or interns is a plus.
