What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer/Substation Engineer to join our team in Roseville, CA

The growth and diversification of the Hydro Power and Water Business Line is a top initiativeon both a regional and national scale. Our projects involve the design of hydropower and thermal power generation infrastructure, and substation to support the upgrading and expansion of the electrical grid, design of power generation sites, photovoltaic generation sites, and battery storage facilities.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Civil/Structural Substation Engineer you will Independently applies advanced theories, concepts, and principles of engineering to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions. Serves as a technical specialist in analyzing the components of projects, establishing design criteria, and executing designs. Responsibilities include:

In this capacity, your responsibilities will include:

  • Check calculations prepared by less experienced staff.
  • Performs advanced computations, calculations or analysis for design of steel structures and equipment foundations for electrical and mechanical equipment, low/high voltage utility substation applications.
  • Works with client and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs.
  • Ensures that production of drawings and specifications meets the scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements and satisfies federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Reviews vendor drawings and evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations for entire projects.
  • Consults with construction personnel concerning field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of activities.
  • Construction coordination for responding to civil/structural related construction RFIs.
  • Leads in the preparation of specifications.
  • Performs QAQC reviews for structural documents.
  • Routinely participates in multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Performs site assessment, scope walk, and construction support
  • Determines client requirements and develops designs and contract documents.
  • Assists in the development of fee proposals.
  • Serves as resident engineer to support construction activities occasionally.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • BS in Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in CA and ability to obtain multiple jurisdictions
  • 8+ years of applicable experience in power generation plants and substations
  • Advanced capability such as in AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM360, Bluebeam, Revit and Plant 3D is a plus
  • Expertise with MS Office
  • Knowledge of advanced (3D) design software
  • Specialized experience in advanced software applications (RISA, FAD, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead client presentations

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $104,000-$156,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
