Here's what you'd do:

  • The Engineering Manager provides overall technical leadership to the engineering department, planning, executing, and managing all internal, external, and customer requirements to ensure that safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements are met.
  • Supports all organisational objectives by developing goals and strategies.
  • Support all RFQs and communication per the assigned customer.
  • Champion and fully support the integration of customers' quality flow-down requirements.
  • Partner and collaborate with technical engineers, project engineers, manufacturing engineers, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programmers, estimators, and shop floor employees to ensure program goals, requirements, and needs are understood and achieved.
  • Monitor project plans and execution to ensure technical and work scope requirements, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
  • Ensure engineering efforts are planned and executed in accordance with company policies, procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide the coordination between the engineering team, functional managers, and product line supervisor to ensure all necessary reviews are conducted and approvals are received.
  • Assure and verify compliance of manufacturing methods as defined on customer purchase order, drawings, and specifications requirements.
  • Approve new and revise customer purchase orders during the purchase order review and validate compliance.
  • Collaborate with other management personnel to develop and maintain new products and design change milestones.
  • Manage and prioritize tooling and program requests to appropriate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programmers and manufacturing engineers.
  • Review and approve all Bill of Materials (BOM), manufacturing routers, fixture designs and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programs.
  • Lead efforts on customer product reviews, to include production readiness reviews when applicable.
  • Responsible for ensuring First Article and Production Process Approval tasks are completed and approvals are obtained for deliverable products as applicable.
  • Reviews and approves all estimators' quotes for accuracy and compliance with customers' flow-down requirements.
  • Review and disposition product repairs, reworks, and Material Review Board (MRBs).
  • Investigate and oversee root cause and corrective actions on assigned programs.
  • Lead efforts on customer escapes, utilizing all other engineering members to ensure accurate data is quickly available for review by the Quality Manager.
  • Participate in assigned customer communication about technical, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Recommend safety and ergonomic improvements in our material handling devices, manufacturing tools, and workstations to accommodate best practices for shop floor personnel.
  • Participate in discussions with customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Build our relationship and partnership with assigned customers to grow our business and sales according to management's business plan.
  • Support all internal and external audits.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Comfortable leading discussion and debate both within peer group and with matrix business partners, operational partners, and leaders.
  • This role supervises the engineering team to include Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Computer Numerical Control(CNC) Programmer and Estimators.

Pay Rate: $115k - $130k

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing and cost estimating.

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of leading Engineering efforts on the Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
  • PMP certified (Project Management Professional)
  • Ability to effectively make complex decisions with limited time and information, and can determine decision-making criteria based on priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines with internal and external resources.
  • Good analytical capabilities, with a basic understanding of statistical analysis techniques.
  • Good people skills, independent problem resolution, proven leadership ability, and the ability to manage the requirements of others.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) / Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) system use, shop mathematics, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, and coatings.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office products, including Project.
  • Proficient in guiding and mentoring team members.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.

Additional Information:

  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.

  • Occasional travelling to customers and the supply chain may be needed.
  • Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently needed to remain in a stationary position and constantly reposition self to perform needed tasks.
  • Constantly operate the machinery needed for this job.
  • May be needed to work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts.
  • Specific coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of equipment.
  • May work in close proximity to others.
