Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The position is responsible for a variety of professional, technical, financial, and administrative support duties in the Department of Theatre and Dance. More specifically, the position is responsible for office, budget, calendar, box office, facility, production, and data management while providing administrative support to the chairperson and faculty. Additional administrative aspects include purchasing, budgeting, and coordinating public relations of theatrical productions and events as well as providing administration support for departmental reports, travel authorizations, and weekly meetings. The technological aspect involves the maintenance, operation, and inventory of office and theatrical equipment. Additionally, this position serves as an internal/external liaison between department and faculty/students/university administration/community. | Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Theatre and Dance, located within the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities, is a program involving the study and performance of theatrical works, dance, and related performance arts materials. Its purpose is to provide a stimulating academic and artistic environment, which advocates the pursuit, acquisition and practical application of knowledge and skills emphasizing the interdependence of theatre with the culturally varied world of ideas and actions. It offers five concentrations including theatre education and dance education. lt currently has three full-time-faculty members, one fixed term faculty member, and one art production specialist. With a rigorous curriculum, the unit produces four main stage productions, a dance recital, and a number of studio and lab productions in addition to participating in several theatre festivals and competitions. The department provides three courses that meet the General Education Curriculum Humanities elective |
