Hyundai Motor Group North America Quality Center (NAQC) is the quality arm of Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) based in South Korea and oversees all quality problems raised in North America. NAQC Investigation Team's primary objective is to identify a range of quality issues within the North American market and implement targeted corrective actions to minimize quality problems in the field. Hyundai Motor Group North America Quality Center (NAQC) is currently looking for an Electrical Manager at Irvine, CA office who will:

Be a part of an investigation team to conduct various types of field investigations to collect duplication data and analyze the data to identify the root cause and share findings through technical investigation report. The candidate will lead various Electrical quality gate audits of development stage vehicles with appropriate stakeholders to identify and resolve software defects before releasing the software to production vehicles. The candidate is expected to have knowledge of inner workings of automotive electronics and should have troubleshooting / root cause analysis skills to identify a problem and provide appropriate resolution recommendations. The individual will be required to collaborate with the various stakeholders (i.e. HMG Quality Team, HMG R&D, suppliers, North American affiliates) to plan / execute joint activities to achieve a common goal.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead North America Quality Center Electrical team to improve overall quality, customer perception, and stabilize new vehicle system and feature deployments
  • Work with North America affiliates to review arising field concerns and make strategic plan for issue containment.
  • Setup group's goals & objectives aligning with the corporate direction and facilitate the accomplishment of all objectives.
  • Develop and manage the group's strategies, plans, human resources and budgets. Mentor direct reports.
  • Support Hyundai Motor Group(HMG) on investigations by managing affiliate's support, manpower, and investigation findings.
  • Lead projects related to Electrical quality with pre/post product launch, service repair accuracy and vendor quality.
  • Monitor quality trends and coordinate various quality improvement activities to reduce warranty cost and improve overall quality of HMG brand.
  • Publish weekly work plan and team's activity report to keep track and manage Electrical team's KPIs.
  • Prepare and present executive summary to upper management.
  • Maintain alignment with Korean coordinators to effectively exchange necessary information with the headquarters.
  • Review & monitor external database related to safety & product feedbacks.
  • Candidate should have overall knowledge of vehicle systems with an emphasis in Electrical systems.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as purchase orders, vacation requests, travel requests, and performance evaluations.
  • Report quality issues with accurate testing & duplication conditions for the proper countermeasure development.
  • Plan and manage efforts to enhance the capabilities of team engineers.
  • Manage performance administrative functions such as purchasing / vacation / travel requests and performance review.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies required- Six Sigma, Shainin, or etc.
  • Report team's performance, task progress, current challenges and potential solutions to EL/INFO Sr. Manager

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Have bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering.
  • Have 10+ years of experience in the area of QA/QC, Quality Improvement, or Vehicle Quality Investigation & Root Cause Analysis.(Actual compensation will be determined based on candidate's years of relevant work experience)
  • Previous team management experience is preferred.


  • Be familiar in Vector CANalzyer / CANoe / CANape, Oscilloscope, Spectrum analyzer.
  • Be proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Maintain a keen awareness of accuracy and attention to detail.


  • Travel up to 25% of time (domestic & international).


  • Be willing to support initiatives that may fall outside the day-to-day activities listed above.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
