Description Director of Ambulatory Quality and Population Health Analytics Become part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 teammates whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve. Summary The Director of Ambulatory Quality and Population Health Analytics leads analytics business enablement across UNC Health Alliance (UNCHA), UNC Health's Clinically Integrated Network and Population Health Services Organization. Working closely with UNCHA's Health Informatics Medical Director and the VP for Practice Quality and Innovation, this individual is responsible for developing advanced internal and external analytic tools that secure top-decile performance in value-based contracts. Key responsibilities include identifying and promoting analytic standards, procedures, and technologies that improve the accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, and completeness of data critical to the effective, consistent operation and management of UNCHA Value Care contracts, Population Management, and UNC Health ambulatory services. The director collaborates with senior-level staff accountable for daily operations, finance, payer contracts, and quality measures, leading a team of analysts responsible for predictive analytics, business area support, ambulatory organizational goals, and internal customer service. This individual collaborates with UNCHA senior executives in setting strategy and developing business plans, organizational portfolio priorities, and resource allocations necessary to simultaneously deliver current business commitments while developing new organizational capabilities. The ideal candidate is expert in SQL, data warehouse structures, and Epic data sources, claims data sources, claims ingestion, and data transformation processes, while also possessing strategic thinking and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities Analytical Solutions Establishes, leads, and manages a team of twenty analysts and integrates with teams of clinical and business staff from UNCHA and across the UNC Health system to drive consensus on data and analytical requirements. Ensures that resources are available to support assigned plans, activities, and initiatives and ensures alignment of quality improvement initiatives with value-based contracts through data analytics, reporting, and collaborating with entity and senior leaders in UNCHA and UNC Health. Engages senior executives in strategy sessions and organizational development issues, including the escalation and resolution of operational inconsistencies that create barriers to accurate or complete analytics, operational reporting, and organizational decision making. Possesses extensive knowledge of clinical, governmental, external payer portals, and claims data sources with the ability to integrate these data sources into visually appealing and clinically useful dashboards, along with knowledge of patient privacy and security requirements necessary for executing dashboards in meaningful, yet secure, mechanisms. Possesses deep knowledge of data infrastructures underlying the Epic EHR and Epic VBPM. Quality, Innovation, and Performance Improvement Serves as the strategic leader to facilitate UNC Health Ambulatory quality data reporting across all UNC Health entities. Possesses deep knowledge of payer and other attribution strategies, HEDIS, and CMS measure specifications, including hospital measures in payer contracts. Establishes the reporting, delivery, and communication strategic framework necessary to achieve UNC Health, UNCHA, and entity goals for Improvement Collaborative across the domains of clinical quality, access to care, patient engagement, and patient satisfaction. Establishes and maintains the objectives and strategy for the department to contribute effectively and for executing the overarching UNCHA and UNC Health strategic plan. Financial Focus Leading claims-based financial reporting models is key to maximizing performance in value-based contracts with CMS and commercial payers. The role requires providing actionable information to senior leadership and the clinically integrated network through multiple channels.
