Description Summary: Responsible for transporting and delivering all required items and materials from pick-up point to destination site between hospital departments and outside clinics, businesses, government agencies and individuals. Picks up documents and packages from customer's offices or homes and delivers to final destinations within the area. Delivers important items such as medical specimens, financial documents, and legal documents. Works with customers within specific work units ensuring an effective and streamlined experience for all caregivers they serve. Responsibilities: 1.Receives medical items and instructions from healthcare facility. Ensures understanding of delivery instructions prior to departing. 2.Ensures that medical item(s) is securely stored in the delivery vehicle. 3.Ensures documentation corresponds to each item. 4.Ensures that all documentation is legible and accurate. 5.Maps out route to destination, considering traffic and mileage. 6.Ensures the punctual collection and delivery of medical items from healthcare facility. 7.Ensures recipients sign delivery receipts and items are verified. 8.Accurately counts and takes inventory of medical items to be collected or delivered. 9.Ensures the safety of each item delivered. 10.Ensures all postage costs for personal packages shipped by UPS or Federal Express are processed. 11.Ensures all shipping accounts are monitored, recorded and carrier's documents are properly maintained for billing and tracking purposes. 12.Processes, prepares and sorts all incoming and outgoing mail on a regular and timely basis. 13.Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations. 14.Performs routine maintenance on delivery vehicles, such as monitoring fluid levels and replenishing fuel. Cleans and cares for his/her assigned vehicle. 15.Attends meetings as required. 16.Performs general office or clerical work such as filing materials, operating copy machines or running errands. Licensure/Certification North Carolina driver's license with no prior points or convictions outstanding.
Experience Previous experience involving delivery/messenger duties preferred.

Ability to interact with teammates and the public professionally. *Ability to remain alert and awake at all times during shift. *Ability to follow instructions and directions. *Ability to tolerate exposure to all types of weather and outdoor conditions. *Ability to work in a physically demanding position. *Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Valid NC Driver's License: Yes If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
