Job Description

Overview
The primary role of this position is to coordinate, facilitate, and inform with health/medicine/careers education events for rural students. This position will work with faculty and staff at the St. Joseph campus to plan events and outreach activities. The individual will need to have basic health science education (anatomy, physiology, histology of the human body) in order to plan and guide activities to high school students and community members.

Job Description
* Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in informational events for rural high school and community outreach programs through the UMKC regional campus in St. Joseph, Mo. This may include the following: reaching out to rural high schools, planning events, coordinating events with faculty, staff, and students, traveling to rural communities, driving vehicles, small group activities, documenting events (pictures, tracking numbers, etc.), and ordering supplies.
* Provide support for the Rural Pathway Program when needed. This program assists undergraduate students and health care professionals matriculate to medical school. This may include the following: assistance with student recruitment, logistics, data collection, setting up workshops and in person experiences, and assisting in small group activities.
* Provide support for the Post-Baccalaureate Rural Medical Emphasis Master's Degree Program. This may include assistance with program logistics and data collection.
* Assist with progress reports to external funding organizations
* Perform additional duties as needed.

This position will be required to be in-person (on site) based at the St. Joseph campus. There will be travel required to rural areas of Missouri and surrounding states. Some of the travel may involve driving resource vehicles so a valid driver's license and ability to drive is required in this role. Required work-related travel outside of the St. Joseph campus will be supported by the campus.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications
* Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology.
* Work requires regular heavy physical lifting, sometimes of equipment over 50 pounds and extended periods of time sitting, walking, and standing.
* Have access to and use of own transportation in order to work on campus in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Knowledge/Skills
* Ability to work in teams and with high school and college students.
* Ability to coordinate and organize events.
* Familiarity with operating audiovisual equipment and the ability and eagerness to quickly learn new and varied technologies.
* Strong interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficiency with electronic mail communication and operation of personal computers (PC and MAC) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Must be very organized, attentive to details and able to multi-task and work efficiently.
* Flexible, self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills.

A valid driver's license and ability to drive is required in this role.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$18.87 - $25.00 per hour, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
