Location Profile:

Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, CNC Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.

Position Summary:

Under minimal supervision, the Tapping Machine Operator, performs various manufacturing operations and miscellaneous tasks, requiring manual dexterity and the ability to work with hand tools. Receives detailed instructions as to manufacturing requirements and exact procedures to be followed. Operates a variety of production equipment, which may include coining machines, notching press, clear tab punch press, broaching machine, and stud welding machines.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operates machines such as small presses or broaching machines to serrate lockrings, studs, and inserts.
  • Verifies part quality through visual inspection and using micrometers and calipers.
  • Cleans and moves parts between operations.
  • Performs sanding, deburring, etc., as needed.
  • May also operate automated assembly machines.
  • Handles small parts, which requires good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • May also operate equipment that requires the individual to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 0 - 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products, plus good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to utilize handheld tools such as a handheld screw and drill gun.
  • Should be able to maintain inventory of product in workstations.
  • Ability to perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
  • Must be able to perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate conventional machines.
  • Able to identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
  • Capable of regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Must possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Specific vision abilities required, include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
  • High energy level and ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Mathematical Skill - Demonstrate the ability to apply mathematical operations to validate, analyze variance, and correlation techniques.
  • Basic Visual & Dimensional Inspection - Demonstrate the ability to inspect parts dependably using the following tools: caliper (dial and digital); micrometer (stand, blade, and disk); dial drop indicator; test indicator; comparator; pin gage; gage block set; any functional gages applicable to the operator. Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Communication - Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with team members to achieve cooperation and assistance needed to resolve problems and attain maximum productivity.

Desired Skills:

  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of shop practices and procedures.

Education

  • Certificate from college or technical school, minimum a High School Diploma.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $19.25 to $28.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
