The City of Mt Shasta invites applications for the position of The City of Mt. Shasta is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker. This is a full-time position and compensation is $22.91 to $27.18 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include a generous City contribution to a Cafeteria Plan with family medical coverage that includes a City funded health savings account, vision and dental, and supplemental insurance. The position receives P.E.R.S. 2% at 62 (new members) or 2% at 55 (classic members) retirement plan, 13 holidays per year (104 hours), bereavement leave (40 hours/year), sick leave (96 hours/year), and vacation days, which accrue at a rate that increases with tenure (120 to 200 hours/year). The City also has several employee-funded deferred compensation plans available. Under the supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, this position assists in the maintenance and repair of City buildings and streets, sewer collection, treatment and water distribution systems and related infrastructure. In addition, this position operates a variety of heavy and light equipment. Snow removal, grounds maintenance and drainage system repair and maintenance are also responsibilities. Working in inclement weather and working a flexible schedule will be required; including emergency stand-by duty. The ideal candidate will be able to, or have the ability to learn to, operate a variety of light and heavy equipment including dump trucks, snowplows, loaders, flusher trucks, street sweepers, backhoes, paint sprayers, rollers, and various hand and power tools. The candidate should also be detail oriented, able to follow oral and written instructions and work cooperatively with others. This individual must currently hold a Class B driver’s license and a Water Distribution Operator Grade D1 certificate or have the ability to obtain the Class B driver’s license within one year and the D1 certificate within two years. The candidate must also be available to occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during snow removal and emergency stand-by activities.
