Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our Evanston, IL office.

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator supports the HSE Manager in managing an organization-wide emergency response program. The HSE Coordinator helps oversee and improve Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety protocols and best practices in emergency response

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the HSE Coordinator you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Assist in maintaining an updated member list for the Emergency Response Team (ERT) across all facilities.

  • Support the conduct of quarterly ERT surveys and manage communications to ensure team readiness and preparedness.

  • Facilitate bi-annual meetings to review ERT activities and strategies.

  • Assist in planning and coordinating annual ERT training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.

  • Track and send reminders regarding annual evacuation and shelter-in-place drills.

  • Monitor and assist with post-drill Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).

  • Maintain an inventory of emergency equipment and supplies and manage their replenishment.

  • Assist in developing and communicating emergency response plans and procedures.

  • Conduct bi-annual reviews of all site-specific Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and one-page quick reference guides to ensure accuracy and relevance to site changes.

  • Assist in developing site-specific emergency response training materials for hosting on the Learning Management System.

  • Stay informed about changes in HSE regulations and industry best practices and support organizational compliance efforts, especially as they relate to emergency management.

  • Contribute to promoting a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainability throughout the organization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field preferred.

  • Two to three years of previous experience in a related field or environment preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Salary Range:

$45,980.00-$63,222.50
