Your Job

We are seeking a highly motivated, forward thinking SAS Administrator to support the enterprise Collaboration and Support Center Manufacturing excellence group and the GP Decision Analytics Group. The role supports SAS platform used for developing custom machine learning based Analytics and AI solutions used across 150+ facilities within multiple divisions. GP CSC and the Decision Analytics Group functions as a Center of Excellence for all things related to manufacturing and commercial transformation for all of Georgia Pacific. This groups create sustainable value and competitive advantage by leveraging analytics, information, technology, and actionable insights across the enterprise while focusing on futuristic possibilities of analytics. This role will have the opportunity to leverage the latest Big Data, Cloud and Analytics technologies and partner with our operations, engineering and data science community to expand our modeling and decision-making capabilities focused on asset health, asset optimization and process optimization.


What You Will Do

  • Ensure the availability and health of the SAS Viya environment through system monitoring, log analysis, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer the SAS Viya platform, including managing security, accessibility, and data source connections.
  • Act as an escalation point for production or platform issues and coordinate with SAS Technical Support to resolve them.
  • Collaborate with SAS Technical Support to apply patches, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Work with storage, server, LDAP, database, and other IT teams to support business needs through the SAS environment.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for promotion activities, including QA and production deployments (e.g., standards, code reviews).
  • Occasionally assist the on-call team in resolving critical issues during weekends or after hours.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and drive them to completion.
  • Contribute to architecture development with input from various groups.
  • Continue building technical expertise in SAS products and integrations with AI tools.
  • Communicate proactively with business stakeholders to gather requirements and review progress.
  • Identify potential system opportunities or issues during data transfer or predictions and collaborate with data scientists or IT teams as needed.
  • Partner with cross-functional data science and engineering teams to create, implement, and deploy business solutions.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Familiarity with administering applications on Linux-based systems.
  • Knowledge or understanding of container technology (AWS EKS, ECS, or Docker)
  • Basic experience with programming or scripting (Python and/or Bash/Shell).
  • Understanding of SQL for data querying and analysis.
  • Awareness of data engineering concepts (ETL processes, data structures, metadata, workflow management)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Exposure to SAS tools (such as Environment Manager, Studio, ESP/ESM, or Visual Analytics).
  • Hands-on experience with SAS programming.
  • Familiarity with SAS Viya platform (version 3.5 or 4.0) and automation.
  • Knowledge of version control tools (Git/GitHub, TFS).
  • Exposure to Agile or DevOps practices.
  • Experience in manufacturing or related domains.
