Hospice Physician

The Henry Ford Medical Group's Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is seeking a physician to join our team as a Senior Staff Hospice Physician. This is a unique opportunity to serve a diverse patient population while contributing to a well-established, mission-driven program in Southeast Michigan.

Position Highlights

* Join a non-profit, hospital-based hospice with over 30 years of dedicated service to the Southeast Michigan community.

* Collaborate with a seasoned interdisciplinary team committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.

* Serve as faculty for our ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program (2 fellows/year).

* Practice at a respected academic institution affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine.

* Care for a diverse patient population across a variety of settings.

* Structured orientation and ongoing mentorship provided by the Hospice Medical Director.

* Depending on interests and skills, there may be opportunities to provide coverage for inpatient hospice patients and perform palliative care consultations.

Key Responsibilities

* With support from the Hospice Medical Director, lead the medical oversight of hospice patient care services.

* In collaboration with the Hospice Medical Director, deliver educational seminars and outreach to health system and community clinicians to enhance awareness and access to hospice services.

* Collaborate with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team to manage terminal illnesses, related conditions, and symptom distress.

* Conduct home visits when clinically appropriate and as requested by the care team.

* Apply expertise in prognostication and hospice regulations to assess eligibility, related diagnoses, and appropriate levels of care.

* Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners.

* Engage in scholarly activities including education, quality improvement, and/or research.
