Under the direct supervision of the General Registrar/Director of Elections, serves as the Clerk to the Electoral Board providing the Board with technical guidance and professional level analytical and technical work including data analysis, data management, research and policy development. Responsible for overseeing, managing, preparing and preserving official records of the Electoral Board including but not limited to the meeting minutes, Board actions, and Electoral Board Member records. Serves as the Coordinator and Manager for the high school page program leading and collaborating with the Election Administration team to manage and administer this distinguished program for all interested high students residing in Fairfax County who are interested in serving at Election Day polling places, providing valuable support for the election process. Responsible for managing and overseeing more than 260 polling places, serving as the liaison with facility representatives, evaluating polling place requirements, securing new polling place facilities, and managing all legal and technical aspects associated with polling place changes and additions, working closely with the Electoral Board, General Registrar/Director of Elections, and county legal staff and securing approval from the Board of Supervisors. This position will coordinate, manage, and perform all required ADA inspections/audits to ensure ADA compliance for voter accessibility. Oversees, manages, and serves as the point of contact with facility managers of existing, new, and changed polling places, both public and private, including the FCPS School Division. The individual in this position is required to have extensive knowledge of election laws and remain well-informed in new and amended election laws and legislation. Manages special projects that require research, assessments, evaluations, and analysis of elections laws and legislation, results, and other election related data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for " Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.
BRIDGE CLASS EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce. However persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Must be a registered voter in the State of Virginia or able to become one within 30 days of employment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Job is generally sedentary in nature, and requires walking, standing, sitting (for long periods of time), kneeling, reaching, and bending at times. Requires ability to work extensive overtime hours under demanding conditions during elections. Requires the ability to lift, move, push, pull equipment and supplies up to 30 lbs. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor and operate keyboard driven equipment and computer. Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of experience in an elections office/administration
- Three (3) or more years of experience serving as a clerk to the Electoral Board
- Two (2) or more years of experience in overseeing and performing Americans with Disability Act requirements
- Two (2) or more years of experience overseeing and managing election polling places
- One (1) or more years of experience overseeing and managing high school student participation Page program or other volunteer programs
- One (1) more years of experience managing part-time employees
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to research, manage and analyze date, and present to senior leaderships and Electoral Board
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
