Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Buyer procures categories of assigned and sometimes unassigned commodities to maximize value and maintain production schedules. Performs varied and additional administrative tasks in support of all purchasing requirements and responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate:

    Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring Sponsorship
  • Must be available to work on-site daily in Hobart, Indiana
  • A collaborative team playerwho thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting

Salary Range: $55,000-$80,000

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Evaluates material requirements and determines best sourcing strategy
  • Places purchase orders and follows up with confirmations and deliveries
  • Responds to emergency requirements from various departments, including Logistics, Accounting, and Operations
  • Ensures return material authorizations are completed with vendors on time
  • Works effectively with vendors and co-workers to maintain good relationships
  • Investigates and expands vendor base as appropriate


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Associate' Degree or equivalent experience; Bachelors' degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as buyer, preferably for an industrial equipment manufacturer

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Knowledge of vendor relationship management
  • Basic knowledge of negotiation tactics with a large base of suppliers
  • Computer skills including MS Office
  • Experience using MRP/ERP system
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team orientation
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and multi-task on a daily basis
  • Desire and ability to understand surroundings as well as upstream and downstream operations.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
