Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States. Preference is given to candidates located near a FCB hub such as Raleigh, Charlotte, or Phoenix.

The Strategic Business Analyst is a high-impact role supporting the Enterprise Digital leadership team, focused on driving strategic analysis, business case development, and executive decision support across our digital transformation portfolio. This position operates as an internal consultant, tackling ambiguous, high-visibility projects that shape investment decisions, strategic direction, and organizational priorities for our digital banking platforms serving commercial, retail and wealth customers. You will partner directly with senior Digital, Technology, Product and Business leaders to develop compelling business cases for major technology investments, create executive-level presentations, conduct market research, and evaluate emerging opportunities in areas such as AI. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who excels at translating complex information into actionable insights and thrives in a dynamic environment where no two weeks are the same.


Responsibilities

  • Enable Strategic Decision-Making: Partner with Digital leaders to frame key strategic questions, develop analytical approaches, and provide data-driven recommendations that influence direction and investment
  • Support Capacity & Portfolio Planning: Lead annual planning activities including demand forecasting, capacity modeling, prioritization frameworks, and tradeoff analysis; facilitate strategic discussions on portfolio optimization across business segments
  • Execute Ad Hoc Strategic Projects: Take on loosely defined, high-priority requests from Digital leadership that require independent problem-solving, structured analysis, and rapid turnaround on critical business questions
  • Create Executive Communications: Develop high-quality presentations and strategic documents for senior leadership, synthesizing complex information into clear, compelling narratives
  • Support Strategic Analysis & Research: Help Digital teams with market research, vendor assessments, and competitive analysis for new initiatives
  • Support Business Case Development: Enable end-to-end business case creation for digital technology investments, including financial analysis (ROI, payback period), strategic justification, risk assessment, dependencies and KPI frameworks to support executive funding decisions
  • Perform Dependency & Risk Analysis: Map cross-functional dependencies, identify portfolio risks, assess organizational impacts, and help develop mitigation strategies for complex multi-year programs

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Business, Finance, Economics, Technology, or related field OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Business, Finance, Economics, Technology, or related field

Education & Experience:

  • Preferred 3-5 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, banking, or product management
  • Proven track record of business case development, strategic planning and financial analysis
  • Experience in financial services, banking, fintech, or technology sectors highly desirable
  • Background in digital transformation or technology modernization preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Expert-level PowerPoint and presentation development
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (data analysis and visualization, financial modeling, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Familiarity with digital banking platforms, core banking systems, or enterprise technology architecture a plus

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication with ability to influence senior executives
  • High degree of autonomy and comfort operating in ambiguous, unstructured environments

The base pay for this position is generally between $85,300 and $115,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
