Pay rate: $35.00/hour on w2 without benefits

Shift hours: Monday through Friday Day Shift

Job Summary:

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Mitchell-Lama Housing Application Reviewer. This role is responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving applications for Mitchell-Lama affordable housing developments to ensure compliance with eligibility requirements, income guidelines, and program regulations.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate initial and renewal applications for Mitchell-Lama housing developments.
  • Verify applicant eligibility based on income, assets, household composition, and other regulatory criteria.
  • Communicate with applicants to request missing documentation or clarification as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with agency policies and compliance standards.
  • Ensure all applications comply with NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) program-specific guidelines.
  • Enter and update applicant information in data management systems.
  • Collaborate with housing management agents and internal departments on application status and issues.
  • Prepare recommendations or decision memos for final approvals.
  • Stay current on policy changes affecting eligibility criteria and regulatory updates.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Human Services, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Income verification processes (e.g., HUD guidelines, IRS income documentation), and fair housing practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with housing software systems (e.g., Yardi, Siebel, or HPD's DTR) a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
