The group you'll be a part of

In the Specialty OEM group, you'll be working with suppliers that provide material that support our Wet Deposition products that differ in technology and are focused in support of these toolsets. It can range from specialized metal anodes to heater/chillers. Since the products are specialized, having an understanding of fluidics and how acid-rich environments can affect parts is a plus.

The team interfaces with our product engineering, quality, and product management teams to provide aligned suppliers that deliver to our customers' needs on all fronts-quality, cost, and delivery-while also meeting the technical challenges of an ever increasingly complex environment. And while doing this, we actually find time to enjoy what we're doing within the team.

The impact you'll make

At Lam, as a Strategic Commodity Manager, you play a crucial role in managing industry suppliers. You'll develop and implement commodity strategies, align development deliverables, benchmark suppliers, negotiate agreements, and resolve delivery, cost, and production challenges. In a highly visible and dynamic environment, your strategic expertise in implementing initiatives will support commodity availability, quality, and cost to maintain Lam's reliability and competitive edge.

What you'll do
  • Serve as team facilitator for most supplier Global Agreement negotiations, renegotiations, and contract addendums.
  • Negotiate performance-based, preferred supplier agreements to provide incentive for continuous supplier improvement.
  • Advise commodity team leader on strategic plans.
  • Represent strategic commodity management on a cross-functional strategic commodity team that focuses on strategic supply challenges to ensure internal/external customer needs are satisfied.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to gain partnerships and excel on a cross-functional team with product, manufacturing, and quality engineers, as well as with Legal, procurement, finance, and product support.
  • Monitor metrics in line with AOP (annual operating plan) objectives relative to supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement; then drive team to address and close gaps to meet objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate cost and quality performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection.
    Develop and apply a strategic commodity plan to define a preferred supplier base for highly technical and/or contractually complex commodities.
    Encourage and coordinate early supplier involvement on highly technical and/or contractually complex new product designs using the suppliers' expertise to optimize quality, cost, and manufacturability.
Who we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering with 12 years of experience; or 8 years of experience and a Master's degree.
  • Seven years of experience in a Supply Chain, Operations, or production/planning environment. Preferably in the semiconductor industry.
  • Understanding of RF power technical documents (i.e., specifications, schematics, drawings) and function with semiconductor manufacturing tools.
  • Exceptional interpersonal relationship skills and professional level of emotional intelligence necessary to achieve the desired objective deliverables.
  • Proven experience of strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of successful resolution.
  • Requires excellent analytical and written/oral communication skills with the ability to communicate cross-functionally and with various levels of the organization, including executives.
  • Previous project management experience and knowledge of basic project management concepts.
  • Continuity planning and risk mitigation development with suppliers.
  • Domestic and international travel up to 25%.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $114,000.00 -$253,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
