Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for a Industrial Paint Technician. The job location is at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, Oklahoma.

Scope of Performance: This position is that of an Industrial Paint Technician, McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, Oklahoma. This position will be for a full-time on-site technician and shall be subject to Department of Transportation physical examinations and certification requirements. Schedules will be dependent on the requirements of the customer per specified contract guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of duties that include, but not limited to, sanding, striping, patching and priming of surfaces in preparation for painting and/or coating
  • Apply paint or coatings via spray guns, brushes, or special techniques as requested by technical drawing packages or customers
  • Operate spray guns, control paint flow, speed, and thickness ensuring quality and finish
  • Maintain, clean, monitor, and prepare automated equipment and facilities for operations per operation procedures and state/federal regulations
  • Maintain, mix, prepare, store paint and coatings in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Responsible for inspection and storage of hazardous material in accordance with hazardous waste practices
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track paint materials utilizing automated information systems and/or paper logbooks
  • Responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for use of hazardous material and equipment
  • Use of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, trucks, and other various lifting equipment
  • Assists fellow departments to streamline flow of materials
  • Follow written procedures, guidelines, and standard operating procedures

Education and Experience - Required:

  • Previous experience with painting, coating and surface preparation
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizen and valid driver's license
  • Ability to wear, utilize, and maintain respirator qualification
  • Ability to carry and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to work with automated computer systems and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, both military and private industry
