THE ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Verification Architect to drive the adoption of AI/ML methodologies within our x86 Core Development Organization. This role focuses on leveraging AI to transform and enhance verification workflows, increase engineering efficiency, and improve design quality across all phases of the CPU development lifecycle.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge machine learning techniques into pre-silicon verification, test generation, formal verification, coverage closure, and bug triage. You will collaborate closely with verification, design, architecture, and data science teams to define and implement scalable AI solutions that accelerate our ability to validate complex CPU designs with ever-increasing workloads and functional demands.

THE PERSON:

In this role you will have the opportunity to pioneer in the transformation of verification through AI-driven innovation. You will work with industry-leading engineers developing the next-generation x86 CPUs. As an industry leader, you will assist in shaping the future of CPU design validation and deliver higher-quality silicon faster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the definition and deployment of AI-enhanced verification strategies across the x86 core development lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to apply machine learning, data analytics, and automation to optimize verification processes (e.g., test selection, coverage prediction, failure clustering).
  • Collaborate with design and verification teams to develop intelligent workflows for:
    • Predictive coverage modeling
    • Anomaly detection in regression results
    • Root cause analysis of complex bugs
    • Test prioritization and redundancy elimination
  • Build and refine pipelines to collect, clean, and analyze large volumes of simulation, coverage, and waveform data.
  • Define the infrastructure and tool requirements to support AI integration, working with internal tooling and data engineering teams.
  • Evaluate emerging AI tools and solutions (open-source and commercial) for applicability in the verification domain.
  • Mentor verification engineers on the application of AI/ML tools and methodologies in day-to-day activities.
  • Partner with software, validation, and post-silicon teams to create feedback loops that enhance pre-silicon verification via real-world data.
  • Track and measure improvements in verification velocity, coverage efficiency, and bug detection using AI approaches.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Proven experience in CPU or SoC verification, with a strong understanding of x86 microarchitecture and verification flows.
    • Solid understanding of functional verification methodologies (e.g., UVM, assertion-based verification, formal).
    • Hands-on experience applying AI/ML or data science techniques to hardware design or verification problems.
    • Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, with knowledge of ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
    • Familiarity with simulation, regression, coverage collection, and debug environments.
    • Experience working with large datasets, relational databases, and visualization tools (e.g., Pandas, SQL, Tableau).
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence verification strategy at the architectural level.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across diverse technical teams.
    • Prior experience developing or deploying ML models for EDA (Electronic Design Automation) or hardware verification.
    • Familiarity with tools like TensorBoard, MLFlow, Weights & Biases, or similar model training and monitoring systems.
    • Experience with reinforcement learning or active learning approaches in constrained domains.
    • Background in performance modeling or workload-aware simulation is a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with focus in AI/ML or data science.
