Internship Program Overview

Our 10-week summer internship program givesstudentshands-on experience and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while learning about our organization.Internswill connect with leaders,participatein development sessions like self-assessments and business overviews, and take part in networking and community initiatives. The program concludes with a final presentation to leaders and peers, whereinternsshowcasetheirwork, share ideas, and receive valuable feedback.

This is what you will do

This positionprovides the intern withunderstanding and active involvementofthe many medicalaffairsactivities contributing to the overall Medical Affairs strategy.

You'll be responsible for:

General Understanding of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Medical Affairs:Under the guidance of Medical Affairs colleagues, the intern will gain a foundational understanding of thePharmaceuticalindustry and Medical Affair's role within the industry. This includes but is not limited to:



  • Drug development and approval phases
  • Medical Affair's team structure and roles within the company as well as externally facing the healthcare community
  • Principles of Medical and Scientific Communications and handling of unsolicited requests for off-label information from healthcare professionals (HCPs)
  • Product-specific information as needed



Focus Area: Under the direction of the Medical CommunicationsHead, the intern will support short-term and medium-term projects, including:



  • Translate scientific data into creativestory-tellingthrough various communication channels, including digital assets, Medical Information Standard Response Letters,infographicsand SlideDecks;
  • Review promotional material for fair & balanced, scientificaccuracy;
  • Update and compile relevant published literature, includingevaluatedata &communicatenotable updates to internal medicalteam;
  • Assist with Medical Information Request processing
  • Present a capstone project asdeterminedby intern with Medical CommunicationsHead
  • Perform other Medical Communication-related duties and responsibilities as time allows



Professional Development:according to the intern's professional interest, the intern will have the ability toparticipatein activities including but not limitedto:regulatory, quality, pharmacovigilance, journal club presentations, pharmaceutical industry grant reviews, investigator-initiated study management. The candidate will alsohave the opportunity toset up 1-on-1 interviews with Medical Affairs colleagues and collaborative partners

You will need to have

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate-level program in life sciences or a related field, with an expected graduation date of fall 2026 or later
  • Proficiencyinreading, interpreting, and evaluatingscientific literature
  • Demonstratedproficiencyin written, verbal and face-to-face communication toeffectively present informationto and influence decision making ofmanagers, working partners (local and global)
  • Ability tosuccessfullymanage multiple tasks and multifunctional resources concurrentlywhilemaintaininghigh attention to detail whilerespondingto rapidly changing priorities and aggressive deadlines
  • ProficientinMS Office (Word, Excel,Project, PowerPoint),andAdobe

We would prefer for you to have

  • Currently enrolled as a PharmD or PhD
  • Previousexposure topharmaceuticalindustry (i.e.clinical development, quality assurance, regulatory, medicalaffairs)
  • Fundamentalunderstanding ofRegulatory &US federal regulations

Location

This is a hybrid rolebased inCary, NC. Interns are expected to work on-site up to 3 days per week.
