Job Summary

The School of Communication, English, and World Languages is seeking an Assistant Professor of Spanish to begin Fall 2026.

The Assistant Professor has the primary responsibility of instruction in the classroom for students enrolled in Spanish courses, as well as ensuring the success and retention of students while maintaining high academic standards.


Essential Duties

Design and deliver student learning experiences and assess student progress.

Provide constructive and timely communication with students and colleagues.

Guide and mentor students in and outside the classroom to promote their success.

Collaborate with colleagues to promote learning and professional growth.

Engage in ongoing professional growth and development.

Serve the college and community as an active contributing professional.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in the discipline or related field or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline or native speaker with internationally or nationally recognize certification in the language. Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with community and employer outreach as it relates to the program. Teaching experience at the community college or university level. Teaching experience with heritage speakers in Interpreting and Translation at the community college or university level. Familiarity with the ACTFL standards as it relates to teaching.
