MUST:

Experienced AWS Cloud SME Engineer

7+ years of experience in specified technical field, or four years of recent, demonstrated experience with specified emerging technology and four years of experience in a closely related technical field

8+ years of analytical experience

Advanced skills in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS Code family, GitLab).

Provides expert support, analysis and research into exceptionally complex problems, and processes relating to the subject matter. Serves as technical expert on executive-level project teams providing technical direction, interpretation and alternatives.

Thinks independently and demonstrates exceptional written and oral communications skills.

Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.

Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.

Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long- range goals and objectives.

Assignments are often self-initiated.

Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.

Expertise is in a particular area of Information Technology (e.g., Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture, Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, Communications and Network Systems Management), or a specific functional area (e.g., finance, logistics, and operations research).

BA/BS or MA/MS in computer science, information systems, mathematics, relevant field, or equivalent experience required

DUTIES:

Cloud SME Engineers will support an AWS GovCloud platform in the Cloud Architecture and Administration team and will be responsible for the following below.

Infrastructure & Automation - Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK for declarative infrastructure management, CI/CD Pipeline Architecture - Designing and maintaining deployment pipelines using CodePipeline and GitLab, GitOps Practices - Implementing git-based workflows for infrastructure and configuration management

AWS Organization & Governance - Multi-Account Strategy - Managing AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and account vending processes, Service Control Policies (SCPs) - Implementing guardrails and organizational policies, Cross-Account Networking - Transit Gateway, VPC peering, PrivateLink, and hub-spoke architectures

Container & Orchestration Platforms - EKS/ECS Management - Building and operating container orchestration platforms with add-ons, service mesh, and cluster lifecycle management, Container Security - Image scanning, admission controllers, pod security policies/standards

Security & Compliance (GovCloud-specific) - Compliance Automation - AWS Config, Security Hub, GuardDuty integration and automated remediation, Zero Trust Architecture - Implementing identity-based networking and least privilege access patterns ,Encryption & Key Management - KMS, CloudHSM, and encryption-at-rest/in-transit strategies ,Automated Remediation - Leveraging AWS native services to remediate security findings with event-driven architecture

Observability & Reliability - Centralized Logging/Monitoring - CloudWatch, Cloudtrail, Splunk integration and implementation, Cost Optimization - FinOps practices, cost allocation tags, and automated rightsizing
